    SilverGraphics 2021 ART PROJECT:

    Art Fundraising

Hello Green Valley artists! Below are some guidelines and instructions for you to follow.  Your theme this year will be Rainbow Art!  You can copy this link in your computer browser and watch the instructional video. Feel free to let your creativity loose...Kids artwork

Easy Rainbow Art Project for Kids (Video)

You can use whatever you have at home:  markers, paint, oil pastels and paper collages all work great!  Once you complete your Art work make sure you write on the back of the paper your First and Last name, Teacher’s name and your grade.  Place your completed artwork back in the protective sleeve and return it to the Green Valley Office or during a designated school supply pick up.

Below I have listed out the criteria for the project:

    • Artwork can be either horizontal or vertical.
    • You can practice on a plain piece of paper first before you draw on your final copy of card stock
    • Completely cover the paper with color minimizing white space to produce the most stunning results.

Some suggestions that make a big difference.

    • Paint, markers, oil pastels, and paper collages are all very effective.
    • Avoid light pencil, light crayon and fluorescent or reflective/metallic materials.
    • Artwork must be flat, NO 3-DIMENSIONAL ITEMS!
    • NO GLITTER, SALT OR SAND!
    • KEEP IMPORTANT ELEMENTS AT LEAST 1/2’’ FROM THE EDGE OF THE PAPER.  Slight cropping occurs on some products.
    • VERY IMPORTANT: make sure you write on the back of the paper your FIRST & LAST NAME, TEACHER’S NAME and GRADE.

Although Kindergarten will not start until August 2021, the time to register is quickly approaching! Kindergarten registration in the San Ramon Valley Unified School district will open on January 25th.

There will be a virtual Kindergarten Parent Information meeting on January 21, 2021.

    gv teacher : staffer spotlight

bartoleroGreen Valley Teacher/Staffer Spotlight: Did you know that Green Valley Colts can choose to take Band or Strings Class in fourth and fifth grades? Meet Jenifer Bertolero, the terrific teacher in charge of bringing the love of instrumental music to Green Valley!  Jenifer Bertolero has been teaching in the SRVUSD for 19 years and with Green Valley for 7 of them. She also teaches both instrumental music and the classroom music program at Coyote Creek Elementary School in San Ramon. Ms. Bertolero loves working with all her music students and seeing their musical "light bulbs" turn on all the time! Her favorite memory from GV is the whole year of 2017-2018. She was pregnant with her now 2.5 year old daughter and she had a lot of fun with her students playing some guessing games about her baby: whether she was having boy or a girl, and how big baby would be!

Since the pandemic began, Ms. Bertolero has relished the fact that she can be with her daughter 24/7, despite how tricky it is to teach full-time and take care of a toddler simultaneously. She has found it incredibly rewarding, nonetheless! She really enjoys how remote teaching has allowed her opportunities to work with students one-on-one more often -- something that is pretty impossible to do in the physical classroom because of all the noise, er, MUSIC!

Her happy place is right where she is -- with her entire family all within a mile of each other, which has allowed her to keep them all in her safe social bubble throughout this pandemic. She grew up in San Ramon, and attended Twin Creeks Elementary, Los Cerros Middle and Monte Vista High! Go Stangs! Ms. Bertolero enjoys cooking and watching the Food Network, and she loves animals. Above all, she adores her family very much!

If you would like to learn more about having your 4th or 5th grader take Band or Strings at GV, please inquire with Ms. Bertoler

                            Toiletry Items

Please consider grabbing a few extra toiletry items on your next shopping order/trip and donating to the PTA Toiletry Drive benefitting the families of our sister school, Heights Elementary. Such a small effort can go a long way in providing these basic comfort items during stressful times. Thank you!

    Wishing Tree

WORDS MATTER -The Wishing Tree (we began this project back in October) is requesting that every person in the GV community write down words or phrases that LIFT PEOPLE UP! We have all had moments of feeling down this past year and we could all use some positive reinforcement.

What is your word of 2021 that will lift you up?

Believe, hope, unity, trust, integrity, fairness, acceptance, patience, perseverance, compassion, empathy, love...pick your own word for the new year.

Brightly colored Wishing Tree Tags will be distributed in your packets. Please write down your words or phrases that LIFT PEOPLE UP and return the tags back to school at the next supply pick up and we will hang them from the Wishing Tree for all to see!

Other kind ideas - Write a compliment to a teacher, coach, mentor, friend, parent, sibling, new student, or to yourself!
