Hello Green Valley artists! Below are some guidelines and instructions for you to follow.  Your theme this year will be Rainbow Art!  You can copy this link in your computer browser and watch the instructional video. Feel free to let your creativity loose...

Easy Rainbow Art Project for Kids (Video)

You can use whatever you have at home:  markers, paint, oil pastels and paper collages all work great!  Once you complete your Art work make sure you write on the back of the paper your First and Last name, Teacher’s name and your grade.

    spotlight - Mrs. Goering

    Meredith Goering

Green Valley Teacher/Staffer Spotlight: Green Valley's teachers could not do their awesome work without the help of an amazing army of Instructional Aides in each classroom! One of these fantastic IA's is also a GV Parent, so meet Meredith Goering.

Mrs. Goering has been an IA for five years, but she has also been helping GV in other roles: lunch supervisor for 6 years and crossing guard for 2 years. She loves working with the kids at GV alongside the wonderful staff! Mrs. Goering has really enjoyed seeing the GV Wishing Tree start and grow with tags this year, feeling that the precious words of kindness has offset so much of the hate in the world right now!

Since this pandemic has started, Mrs. Goering feels like she's had a crash course in technology! She likes to think she's a pro at it now. In the pre-covid setting, she worked in just two classes each year, but with remote teaching, she's been helping in all the 1st Grade classes and really enjoys it. She finds it nice to get to know all the kids in a more relaxed environment and meet all their pets! Mrs. Goering tries to take time each day at the end of small group time to tell some jokes, talk about books, share about vacations or hear funny stories from the kids. When we get back to normal, she is looking forward to seeing the kids' smiles again and to be able to give HUGS!

Mrs. Goering loves sun and warmth, and her happy place is laying in the sun in Palm Springs or riding bikes along the beach in Newport Beach, all with her family and their two puppies, Rosie and Ranger. She really loves the desert heat and also the ocean! Mrs. Goering is a big fan of baking cookies, brownies, muffins and bread, especially to enjoy with some coffee! She likes to golf, take spin classes at StarCycle and go on family bike rides. The Goering family lives on Mt. Diablo, since Mr. Goering is a State Park Ranger, and Mrs. Goering has to pretend that snakes do not live anywhere near her, because she just hates them!

Mrs. Goering says: "I feel so lucky to have worked with such great kids and families. Our GV kids and community have brought me so much laughter and joy all these years. I love my job and I love what I do!"

    5/27 & 5/28

Pick up days are Thursdays and Fridays between 1:00-4:00 pm. Please make sure you come to the front parking lot of Green Valley on the dates listed above to collect important materials and work your student needs for remote learning -- or send a friend to grab it for you!  It's not just pens and crayons, but worksheets and other specific items your student's teacher has prepared for your child to work on at home in conjunction with the virtual teaching.  To save resources, please keep the green plastic bag you received at the last pick up and keep the personalized canvas bag that is to come, as they will be reused and swapped out for each other during each pick up date.  This will help teachers and staff to continue to prepare materials for your child!

    Library Books

Are you looking for something good to read?  Our school library is still available to you--even though we are doing this very differently than we have in previous years.  So, why not learn how you can get access to actual books from your school library?  We have a wonderful selection of great books!  All you have to do is request library book holds (go to the Green Valley library webpage) and watch the video to learn how to request a hold or multiple holds for library books.  I'll process these holds and they will be ready at the grade level library curbside pickup (if the library books are available and holds were received by the deadline).

Library curbside pickup schedule for TK-2nd grades and 3rd-5th grades.  You may want to post this someplace visible so you have these important dates for the deadlines!

TK-5 holds/requests for library book(s) are due by Thursday, 3/4/21 by 1PM for curbside/MPR library pickup on Thursday, 3/11/21 and Friday, 3/12/21.

TK-2 holds/requests for library book(s) are due by Thursday, 3/18/21 by 1PM for curbside/MPR library pickup on Thursday, 3/25/21 and Friday, 3/26/21.

TK-5 holds/requests for library book(s) are due by Thursday, 4/8/21 by 1PM for curbside/MPR library pickup on Thursday, 4/15/21 and Friday, 4/16/21.
