Instrumental Music Program
** Open to all 4th and 5th graders **
Individual Goals:
- Students will be able to finger and play notes with proper technique and breath control on their instrument.
- Students will be able to identify and understand basic music symbols and terms.
- Students will be able to read and write simple music notation.
- Students will be able to participate in performance opportunities.
Learning Strategies:
- large group rehearsals.
- Fully comprehending and demonstrating rhythm fundamentals.
- Individual and group performance practice.
- Ear training.
Student Responsibilities:
30 Minutes of individual practice per week. Coming to each class with a positive and respectful attitude

Rehearsal Schedule -
Groups will meet twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Flute - cleaning rod and cleaning cloth
Clarinet - cleaning swab, cork grease, 1 box of reeds ( size 2)
Alto Saxophone - cleaner, cork grease, neck strap, reeds size 2
Trumpet - valve oil
Trombone - slide oil ( great opportunities for high school)
Percussion 4th and 5th – 1 pair of snare drum sticks – beginner.

Violin - rosin, bow, 1 extra set of strings, shoulder rest
Viola – rosin, bow, 1 extra set of strings, shoulder rest.
Cello - rosin, bow, 1 extra set of strings, foot stopper. ( great opportunities for high school)
