Dear Incoming First Grade Parents,

This year all elementary schools will have an early and late start for all first grade students returning from the pandemic. Teachers at Green Valley will be able to provide more targeted instruction to smaller groups to aid in early literacy support (First grade students will receive 40 minutes of small group literacy support four times a week).

The determination of which students are placed in either the early or late literacy schedule is based on observation and assessment data collected by the first grade teachers during the first weeks of school. Each child’s growth toward meeting the first grade standards is the primary focus in our decision-making. Because of this extensive placement process, we do our best to consider sibling alignment however we will not be able to honor early/late literacy groups based on parent request unless there is a documented medical necessity.

The early/late start schedule will begin on Monday, August 23th.  The schedule follows for the start of the year.  Please also check the Green Valley Bell schedule at registration for other minimum days.
