By-Trustee Area Proposed Maps Hearing 2 Meeting
Posted 2/11/19

Please Note New Time: As of 2/13/2019, open Session will begin at 11:30 a.m.

On Thursday, February 14, 2019, following a presentation, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education will hold the second of two statutorily required public hearings to receive community input on proposed trustee-area maps, pursuant to Elections Code section 10010, subdivision (a)(2). The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Boardroom of the SRVUSD Education Center at 699 Old Orchard Drive, Danville.  This is our fourth public hearing overall --- two hearings prior-to-map creation and two hearing post-map creation --- as required as part of our transition to by-trustee area elections under the California Voters Rights Act (CVRA).

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Board of Education is currently elected under an “at-large” election system, where trustees are elected by voters of the entire District. On December 11, 2018, the Board adopted Resolution #48-18/19, declaring its intent to transition from at-large to by-trustee area board elections, where each board member must reside within the designated trustee area boundary, and is elected only by the voters in that trustee area.

On January 8, 2019, after two public hearings to gather community input on the trustee-area map creation process, the Board adopted Resolution #51-18/19, establishing the criteria to guide the District’s demographers in preparing draft trustee area boundary maps.

On January 16, 2019, the District published two proposed trustee area maps on the its website. On January 24, 2019, the District held the first of two statutorily required public hearings to receive community input on the maps.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend the meeting to give feedback on the proposed maps.
